A famous Rotterdam feature are the 38 cube houses in the city centre, which were designed by architect Piet Blom and built between 1982 and 1984. These houses feature three storeys inside a rotated cube on top of a pillar that contains the entrance and the stairwell. Together, these cube houses form the so-called Blaakse Bos, close to the old harbour. Visit a cube house and ask yourself: What is it like if your windows only ever show the ground or the sky? What kind of furniture is suitable? Where do the curtains go, and how do you hang them? See also: www.kubuswoning.nl.
